Freeing Stuck Clutch After a Lay Up

Good Afternoon, Learned Collective.

I stumbled across a simple fix on another forum for sticking clutches after a period of inactivity.

This is probably teaching granny to suck eggs, but here goes.

Rather than crash engage the gears or take the clutch to bits to free it off, proceed as follows.

Sit astride it and pump the lever three or four times.

With the engine off, put it into first gear.

With the lever pulled in, rock the bike backwards and forwards until resistance is felt. Keep doing this until the resistance to being moved disappears and the bike can be moved in gear with the lever in.

The clutch will now work normally when putting it into gear with the engine running.

I’ve just put this to the test and it works.
