Fuel pump replacement

Hello been thinking about replacing the fuel pump on my VF1000R E not knowing much regarding the pump but I found this pump of a VF750 with the same bent tubs which I thought was handy….is it this simple or am I just hoping? I know it says it don’t fit but it looks as if it will or is it the inside workings that are wrong :man_shrugging:t3:Any advise would be great.

Hi mollrs, ive been using these ones for a while now. Probably done around 5/6000 miles on them with no issues.

The only difference is you need to change the multi plug to a male end, they are readily available on ebay.. the other difference is the in and outlets sizes, the vfr750 ( sc24) pump has 8mm where as your Re has 6mm, and Rf have 10mm..

When i swapped both my vf’s over to these i changed all the fuel hosing over to a more modern ethanol resistant hose and 8mm fuel filter to suit, upto present i haven’t found a good ethanol resistant 90 degree bend for between pump and filter so the filter dosent fit exactly where the original does…

Hi Pete…thanks for the info.. done all this work on the bike.. but can’t tell what condition a 40 year old pump is in on the inside… defo worth changing :+1:

I don’t even run a pump on my RE’s…they run fine on gravity feed as long as the fuel level doesn’t get too low. I fill up as soon as possible after hitting reserve.

Smithy.
