Do you use grease or air?
My setup is a long valve from bicycle (french / sclaverand). I wrap arround some vulcanise rubber “tape” and screw it into the caliper.
Now I put some piece of wood between caliper and pistons, that they could move only a bit. Now it is time for the bicycle tire inflator. When the pistons have moved have no pressure and use a thinner wood piece and pump again.
In two piston caliper they should come out parallel.

I just watch the pistons coming out and control this with adjustable poly grips.
Your idea sounds great to.
I just have free grease and parts cleaner.
I only thread the gun in just by hand.
Nice idea. I just use an old brake lever, master cylinder and brake pipe from a previous bike. Using blocks of wood to prevent the pistons from overshooting the caliper and allow them to extend equally. Cheap brake fluid can be used multiple times for this task.
