VF1000FE project. Just saying hi!

Hi. Joined the site in Jan 07. I have acquired a 1983 FE model, 100% original, but getting a full restoration as according to the chassis/engine number data it is around the 23rd one imported into the UK. I had an FF model back in 86 and loved it. They’re a bit long in the tooth now but then so am I! Already picked up a few tips from the site, liked the post on CB Decals graphics suppliers cos theyre the finishing touch to any bike, and OE are obselete now. A gem of information impossible to find anywhere else. Keep up the good work and lets keep the ole dinosaurs running!!![;)]

Yes, very droll PAJ…I too like the English…I married one…but I am Welsh you see…so I understand all about strange clannish men that live in the hills…[:D]…Now where’s bif with those bloody exhaust inserts?

Hello again scratcher…are you still with us?[;)]

Thanks for the belated welcomes. I’m just as guilty as I only just read em!!! Well, Tiny Tim, as you asked, it will be a full restoration, but I will be carrying out all the work I can in my little workshop(when it’s built!)I will have to farm out the jobs I can’t do like the plating and painting etc, but I’ve got her stripped down, the frame has been checked straight, and I have been busy buying the necessary New Old Stock parts that will bring her back like new. I’ve been using specialist suppliers of NOS parts in the UK, USA, Oz and Netherlands for parts and hve most of what I need. I’m chuffed to have managed to get a pair of N.O.S. wheels(fronts are as rare as rocking horse poo), clutch cover, fuse cover and an almost good as new used exhaust system from Germanywhich still has the original paint on the collector box! Some bits are no longer available so I search ebay for good used parts where necessary. Currently the project is on hold while construct my worksop. It will be 12ft by 6ft and will have mains electricity for light, heat and power, so I can work into the night in a clean dry and draftproof environment! Can’t wait. The base is done now bar the concrete, then I have to build the workshop on it!
Will update when I have more news!

Nice to see you’re still with us…Whereabouts are you then?

New workshop huh?..lucky sod[:D]…Glad you’re getting on witht he parts collection…if you get fed up of that collector box laying about the place , send me an e-mail and I’ll arrange to pick it up and take it of ya hands no problem…[;)]

keep in touch mate…

Im a Kentish man by birth but now reside in rural Essex. And the only lucky part of the workshop is the boss letting me have 1/4 of the garden!(she thinks its a garden shed, lol)Trouble is, it’s taking all the money I could put into the bike!! But it’s got to be done. Council garages are dark, drafty and lack any light or power. Oh and I stroke that collector box every night so we couldn’t bear to be parted!
