Vf1000re 1984 brakes

So the bikes been in the garage today… It went in for clutch fluid and brake fluid change. It’s never had one in 40 years as some of you may well know. The guy has come back saying it’s all solidified and they need dismantling and clean and maybe new master cylinder kits fitting on the brakes… Because of cost, I’m going to tackle it myself, He’s going to do the fork seals… he said it’s quite straightforward Doing the brakes.
Again I need to ask a favour. Can anyone recommend good service kits for the brakes? Any links would be most appreciated. Thanks again for anyone’s help. Sean :beers::beers:

Wemoto do brake & clutch master/slave cyl and caliper repair kits for the VF’s…I have them in my bike…no issues thus far. Wemoto and CMSNL do lots of genuine and aftermarket parts for our old VF’s.

I used BrakeCrafters on my Sabre, and am thrilled with the results, kit was easy and simple, came with brake parts lube, you can order kits with or without the piston (if yours is damaged or missing). Clean the bore for the piston thoroughly, and make sure there isn’t any bad scoring. They sell master cylinder and slave cylinder kits for brake and clutch, and they even have the rear brake master and caliper rebuild kits available.

I plan on going with this 2x kit from Sledpartsguy on eBay for my front calipers.

Thankyou smithy :+1:

Thankyou for info

I still have a couple of sets of stainless pistons and slide pins left if you need to replace any of yours.
