Are the igniters the same

Hey everyone. I have a dumb question. I know the VF1000 motor spins the opposite direction of the V65 and V45 motors. Are the igniters compatible across models? I know the timing will be slightly different, but I want to make sure the motor won’t fire completely out of cycle if I plug in my ignitech igniter from my Sabre. Are the wiring/electronics any different?

I suspect they’re different as the firing order is also different. Magna/Sabre (shaft drive engines) firing order is 1-2-3-4 and they spin backwards. The other chain drive engines, VF750F, 1000F, 1000R etc are 1-4-3-2 and spin forwards.

This out of my VF1000R manual:

This out of the V45 (750) Sabre/Magna Manual:

Hope this helps,
Smithy.

Interestingly the smaller of the two units is an MB4 part(V65)
The larger unit differs (from memory) only by where the Rev limiter cuts in.
These units only amplify the signal from the pickups and send it on to the appropriate coil, the firing order will depend on the valve timing

I suspect you’re correct Sir.
