Yea , I didn’t see a thing…got a few stainless fasteners…toyed with idea of joining VJMC…but after a chat I got the impression they’d be as much use to me as Honda Owners Club which I joined for the first and last time last year.

Anyways PAJ…what’s your name , location ?. Can you e-mail me ?

Tim.

What about this tool for locking the camshafts when you’re setting them up ?

Alrite Tim,

My names Peter, me and my mate Bif run vf1000.com. We’re in South West Scotland.

Bif is just back online, you’ll need to ask him about the tool, he’s the mechanical genius, I’m just the spanner guy. I’m fairly sure we’ve got the tool to hold the cams up whilst adjusting the clearance though.

Did you email me on the 'ceptors list looking for more pix of my black and silver FE?

We are both members of the VJMC, it’s a good club - and is worth the membership for the discount we get on insurance with Footman James. Also you get a BMF affiliate card and discounts for getting into rallies etc. Who are you insured with? I just renewed my insurance, classic policy with Footman and James fully comp, agreed value, recovery - domestic and abroad etc. £110 which aint too bad.

My FE is off the road now SORN’d until next Spring. I decided it’s best to take the winter off after my mate had a spill on his F2 one November on a greasy winter road. We’re still waiting to rebuild that!

take it easy.

Hi Pete…yes I think I asked for some photos…mine is a silver and black model but due to my tank being very poorly, I managed to get a beaut from the States…red/white and blue. When I tried to get info re colour schemes from HOC was told categorically on Forum that there was no black/silver…which I knew was bollox, but I wanted the proper paint codes…If you’re doing a half decent restoration you’re not going to get a tin of silver paint from Halfords are you?[:I] Hence my reticence to join VJMC at Stafford…especially when they told me they haven’t got a marque specialist for the VF’s. So where can I get colour codes/todays equivalent?

Re the cam tool…Top Man is Bif…if we can arrange a secure loan at some time…also a bloody good excuse for a Bimble on the 'Bird to Southern Scotland or meet you in between …somewhere? Can you contact me?

timhavard@btinternet.com

Cheers, Tim ( I’m down in Sheffield…if I haven’t already mentioned it in my intro or profile )

BTW…am insured with ebike insurance…they did me the best deal by far for the 'Bird and CB500[:D]

Tim,

I’ll email you better quality pics of my FE. I’ve never had to do a paint match up, the Honda colour code is on a label under the seat as you know.

Would love to see that forum entry where the HOC guys said there was no silver/black vf1k’s, you should post the pic of my bike!!

I’ve very rarely seen pics of the FE in silver and black on the net, maybe one or two in Europe. There was one on eBay some months ago but thats the only one I’ve seen. I would safely say that in the UK there will only be a handful of them in this colour.

I’m sure we can sort something out about the cam tool, there’s some banter going on on the septic 'ceptors list about valve adjustment and whether you need the tool or not. Basically anyone that doesn’t have it is gonna say you don’t need it to get the job done but the tool was manufactured for a reason right?

cheers

Peter.
