Hi.. slight issue with front sprocket.. the new chain kit came with front and rear sprockets.. problem is front one is wider with a rubber casing.. when I tighten nut it clamps sprocket up.. i have checked out these rubber sprockets and they all say they are compatible with this bike I am missing something!
. Thanks Sean
Assuming your original sprocket set is “530”..?? Should be as they’re normal fitment, some people fit a 525 kit to them.
The big rubber ring and spacer is not used on the new rubberised sprocket. I fitted a “rubber-less JT” front sprocket to mine…fits fine. Just the bolt and washer…with a small amount of 243 Loctite.

Hi thanks for the reply Smithy.. yes it’s a 530
Sprocket don’t fit..just clamps up when I tighten nut… might have to get normal rubber less one
I would have expected a correctly specified DID chain kit to be a perfect fit…
So…is the rubber on the “inside” hitting the housing on the inside once the bolt is tightened..?? Does it lock the shaft up solid so you can turn it even in neutral..?? My sprocket sits just proud of the ouput shaft like your second pic also.

Hi yes it’s the rubber… tighten nut and it locks up the sprocket… I have emailed suppliers.. see what they say…. Looked at other sellers and they all say those sprockets fit my bike
What’s the function of the rubber? Sound deadening to stop the chain rattling? Rather than buy a different sprocket, I would just cut it off. However, a refund from the supplier should be available as the kit is not fit for purpose…
Apparently, it’s a silent running sprocket… The supplier was really helpful. They’re sending me out a standard sprocket. All the rubber backed sprockets They sell on eBay that say they fit the 84 vf1000r, They don’t, they’re too thick.. Just wondering if they fit a later model.. You can buy a DID Chain and sprocket kit with the standard front sprocket .. learn something new
All F’s & R’s are the same in the output shaft area…Engine castings are all the same.
