JUST PURCHASED A 84 VF1000F CHANGING ALL THE FLUIDS WHAT TYPE OF COOLANT SHOULD IT TAKE 50/50 OR STRAIT,FOR ALUMINUM ONLY ?
Hi there I would personally run about 70/30 in favour of the coolant you need some water in the system to allow the coolant to work properly, on a ultra modern sports bike they run it neat but there are no steel parts operating even the water pump impellers are ally or plastic. The ultra fast modern cars are now beginning to run special coolant only systems but your 84 vf is being spoilt at a 70/30 mix and it wont hurt it also the fluid needs to be changed at 12 to 18 month intervals as the alkaline in the coolant becomes acidic over a period of time and contaminants begin to build up hope this helps
Run the specified Honda coolant with no silica, borate, phosphate and other potential abrasives (which apparently cause the water pump seal to leak).
