Cheers bud…out of interest , which one did you get?..The Racelink or the Triple S chain…?..Had a Triple S last year on the Blackbird and didn’t last 5 minutes…I think it lasted 7,000 miles…[:(]

Im using the racelink chain zero miles as yet so no indication as to how it will last but at under £40 I would happily throw a new one on every year.Good to know you are making progress Tim keep us posted BIF

I’m looking to get a new chain for my 84 vf1000f…

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/350583558790?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

would this chain work?
is there enough width to fit an 0-ring or and x-ring chain?

X or O ring chain will fit with no clearance issues. The chain you are looking at will work fine, regards BIF

What about changing the sprocket sizes? should I stay with the standard 17/43 or go with something like 17/44 or 16/43?

Here: http://www.gearingcommander.com/ you can make comparisons with different setups. I used that page, when chose new sprockets to F2 with -86 R-engine (different primary ratio)and 150/70 (smaller than original diameter) rear wheel. Now I have 16/43, and rpm:s are OK in 100 kmh speed with acceptable acceleration.

PAJ and Bud are both running 18/43 on FE models. This drops the rpm by 500 at 70mph.Acceleration is good with an improvement in economy too.Regards BIF

running a 18/43 sprocket set how long should the chain be? 111? 112 link? Running a 17/41 would be pretty close to the same thing as the 18/43, and the chain would be smaller, about 106 link I would think. I’m planning on replacing both sprockets and chains anyways.
