Hi everyone,
I recently stripped my VF1000RF forks and noticed that the oil lock piece was missing from the right fork piston.
Any idea why this was not fitted?
What does it actually do?
Hi neil, the oil lock piece restricts the movement of oil just before the forks are fully compressed , this cushins any bottoming out of the forks, I haven’t a clue why anyone would leave it out

If it is an 85 then the other side oil lock piece looks like a little cylinder. This is the right oil lock piece from 85 vf1000r.
If you don’t have one it is probably stuck in the bottom of the fork leg. They can be sludged in very firmly.
