looking at changing the front brake master cylinder can anyone advise me on a good one or maybe an upgrade.

Don’t know if this would help but I’ve just rebuilt mine with a David Silver kit and added braided hoses, that improved things 200%.
Otherwise, it’s a case of replace the m/c and discs with any modern system.
A good and cheap upgrade is to fit a Honda CBR 1100xx item…
