Hi All, I have had a look though some earlier posts and cant seem to find who would be best to buy (in Australia or OS) a complete Gasket Set for my Honda VF 1000 RE 1984, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Wemoto here in Aus do sets for the ‘84 RE & FE….they’re pretty much the same engine aside from slightly higher compression on the R…and the gear driven cams, PN: AD1529. They may not have one in stock but they’ll get it in for you… I bought one for my RE ~18 months ago, took ~2-3 weeks to arrive….no issues with it and everything fits etc… I rebuilt my RE engine with it, no leaks. I’ve done ~1500km since the rebuild…actually had the old girl out last weekend for a run up to my local motorcycle meeting place…

Hi Smithy, Thx for that m8, it looks like it has all the gaskets seals, or is there additional that needs to be purchased as well?
Nope…it’s the full set…even has the exhaust port crush rings. I believe they do the Athena kits….pretty good quality too.

Thx m8, ordering now.
Whereabouts in Aus are you….There’s a few RE owners about the place….mind you….it’s a big place.

Hello Smithy, I am in Brisbane m8
Hey Deg- I got a couple of full gasket sets from a Qld crowd called BKperformance a few years ago, for my full rebuild. Their website doesn’t seem to work anymore, but here’s an address: Unit 8/11 Trade St, Ormiston QLD 4160. I got 2 different 1000RE kits from them, both very cheap, one was Athena and the other OEM of some sort. Worth a try to find them, they really were cheap! I still have some spares, and 2 sets of Viton valve stem seals if you get stuck. Good luck! David.
Pretty sure I have another complete kit at home if you’re stuck. I’m also in Brisvegas…northside…Bellmere… ~50km north of the city.
Would love to meet up with another VF1000RE owner one day….they’re getting pretty rare. Mine is VIN # 2001113. Built May/84.

Hello murr, thanks for getting back to me, thats great, I did order the Athena kit yesteday from Wemoto, should have all in kit, if not I will shout out m8. Cheers
Hello Smithy,
You are 100% right, not to many of these old girls around, my vin 2001014, it will prob be later this year, be great to catch up and see the looks when parked at the pub
have started the refit of rebuild parts, powdercoated frame, brakes (new kits), fairing/tail frames, swingarm all new bearings, she has been off the road for 10 years, once I get the motor back, it will be flat strap to finish. Couple of before and during photos.
Yep….did similar to mine…powder coated the frame etc… Most of the lower fairing repair & paintwork I did myself at home. It had quite a few fair sized stone chips and was damaged underneath etc behind where the front wheel lives. I was able to source a place that would mix up the correct paint colours in a rattle can…came out OK too. New titanium wheel spoke bolts, was a mongrel getting the old ones out, I had a broken one and decided to replace the lot. New wheel bearings, tyres and brake rotors….Lost of stainless nuts & bolts all over the place, only on the non-structural parts. Only had 27,500km on it when I go it, now has a tad over 29,000km. Help is available if you need it. A couple of pics here for you:
