Hello to all !!

Hi guys, just joined, I had a brand new Bol back in 85which l kept for 5years and 40,000miles and actually rode it 2 the24 hour at Paul Ricard every year.r
I purchased another one five years ago and its completely origional with 14000 on the clock but its been laid up in my workshop for 3 years. Just reading your site has made me get my arse into gear to recommission it. I know it needs fork seals, are these better serviced with the forks off the bike ?] Any help with putting it back on the road would be graatefully accepted.p.s. Love the idea of a vf weekend.

Welcome, deffo need to remove forks to do seals, easy enough job as long as you can find something suitable for driving new seals in.If you run with air pressure in forks then renew seals on air balance pipe at same time.

Thanks for your reply Roger will takr the forks out and renovate, was thinking of trying a run without air but will replace seals as suggested. Thamks for your response.

Hi Mickel, what took you so long ? I like the Bol`s although I have an FF myself.
There was talk of the next meet up being around the Northampton area. Where are you based ?

Hi Martin i am in Middlesbrough so only a couple of hours ride, its taken a while due to other projects but have sold them off, so the Bol is now my priority,i never had cam problems with the 40.000 bike and have checked the cams on this one which shows some light scoring on the exhaust lobes ! Would you recommend the filter and supply mod from from this site ? Regards.

Welcome! I’d love to go on a meet up ride…but I’m a little too far away

Welcome fellow smoggie I am in Yarm, slowly pulling spares together before starting a VF1000R refurb.
Cheers.

Mickel, my take on the oil mod Crooky supplies is if youve got one fitted ( I dont ) then youve got complete Peace Of Mind. However, if you change your oil very regularly with decent oil and particularly check the sump strainer every 5 / 8000 miles I dont see why the 1000s should be any more prone to cam wear - particularly the later engines, than any other Honda !! One aspect which also needs considering is when you come to sell it, punters like to see that mod when theyre considering buying.
