Holes in engine

Hello Gentleman,I just got a 85 VF1000R. I saw the post about the holes in between the vee in the block that said they let water escape.
I have oil coming out of the left side hole when the engine is running, I believe its oil because it doesnt taste like antifreeze.

Is the water escaping look like oil?
Can anybody advise me on this.
I am in the process of getting this land rocket running.
When you ride and then park bike on sidestand it will leak and pool under bike and it sure smells and tastes like oil to me.
It does not come out of the right side hole.

HI bikgra…I’m afraid I have never tasted oil or antifreeze as I’m told it will kill me a lot quicker than the beer I’m allowed to drink.

Hi Bikgra,
check you don’t have an oil leak on the oil feed pipes to the cylinder heads (loose bolt or damaged sealing washer) where the pipes connect to the cylinder heads.
If you get a leak here oil could run into the well of the vee and out down the well drain hole.

Thank You
I will check them and all related parts
