My jewel, the beautiful Honda VF1000R SC16

YES!! My jewel, the beautiful Honda VF1000R SC16

In 2022, after much persuasion, I was able to purchase this gem from a kind widow.

She had lovingly mothballed it for years out of pure love for her husband,
who died unexpectedly (heart attack in 2008). This bike has just under
17,000 kilometers on the clock and was properly serviced in a Honda Classic
workshop in 2007.

Now, after all these years, I have carefully brought it back to life.

It is and remains a HONDA dream bike, because this color scheme
and characteristics of the motorcycle from the 1980s were a brilliant idea
at the Honda racing team.

Today, it’s a rare street sweeper that quite rightly attracts many glances
in everyday life.

I send my greetings to all like-minded motorcycle enthusiasts from the
beautiful OsnabrĂĽck district in Germany.

Looks like the quite rare “European” colour scheme too…

Yes, indeed, and this fact makes it even more interesting.
It also appears to be second-hand, at least judging by the paperwork,
and its mileage of just under 17,000 km suggests otherwise.

From the 1960s to the end of the 1980s, Honda brought some truly beautiful,
charismatic motorcycles onto the market.

I’ve gradually built up a small collection of these over the past 20 years,
including:

CB72 red
CB750 Four K6 blue
CB750 Four K6 orange
CB750 F1 orange
CB750K RC01 blue
CBX1000 CB1 red
CB900F2 SC01 red
CB1100R SC05
CB1100F SC11 red
VF1000R SC16
XL600RM PD04 red
DAX ST70 red

I often find myself in my garage thinking, “A dream has come true.”

Looks like its going to a good HONDA home to be cared for

 Yes, definitely.
I love the “old” Honda motorcycles; their engines are high-quality and,
above all, reliable. From the mid-1960s to the late 1980s, Honda was,
in my personal opinion, the flagship for fascinating motorcycles with
stunning color schemes and powerful engines – those were probably
the best times for those who owned a Honda motorcycle seat under
their own buttocks - HONDA’s best days! :ok_hand:

Would love to see a good shot of the CB1100R if you have one handy…a very rare beast indeed.

One of my dream bikes, but alas there are not many to be had in Australia.

Your “small” collection is admirable - fantastic photos and greetings aus Rheinland-Pfalz!

Hello Smithy,

I’ve picked out some photos of my current and original SC05 especially for you.
I bought this bike four years ago and am now restoring it to its original condition as best I can. The most important components, such as the engine, frame, and part of the fairing, were “thank goodness” still in their original condition. The CB1100R had previously stood lifeless in storage for over 20 years and was purchased by a “traveling dealer” after inspection and testing. There’s still a lot to do, but I’m happy to accept this challenge. I’ve already managed to source some of the missing original components on the market, but it’s a tedious job! In the end, the bike will be restored to good condition with acceptable compromises!
The beautiful and high-quality 4-into-1 exhaust system as well as the shock absorber and footrest system will be replaced with classic, valuable parts.
From the photos you can already see where the path leads, in the end it will be a “cool bike”!

Best regards from Germany
Thomas

I also have other beautiful motorcycles from the 90s and early 2000s that also need to be properly maintained, cared for, and ridden, for example:

VF750C Magna RC43
CB1100SF X11 SC42
VTR1000SP2 SC45
VFR800F VTEC RC46/2
CB1300SA SC54
CBR1000RR SC57
VFR1200X DCT SC70

For me it is the “most beautiful hobby” in the world and I can also be a little crazy at the same time!!

I hope you like it!!

Thank you…it is a dream of mine to own one…one day.

:index_pointing_up:..the VFR 800 from 2003 onwards is a true driving marvel and completely
undervalued in the Honda stable.

Superb handling, comfortable seating position, amazing engine power,
superb aerodynamics. Considering the market prices, this vehicle is absolutely
recommendable. It’s a perfect sports tourer for an astonishingly low purchase
price on the used market. I can only recommend it to everyone, although only
with VTEC from around 2003 onwards!

A very good price/performance ratio, and also relatively inexpensive
and easy to maintain.

:+1:
