Novice Question(s)

Hi All.

I’m going to apologise up front because I’m probably going to bombard this forum in the coming weeks with questions, and most of them are probably going to be dumb!

I’m looking at buying a 1985 VF1000FF, I’ve scanned back thru previous topics for advice and have looked at two. Niether have any obvious faults and seem solid.

Question number one. In the purchase of one bike I’m being offered a very incomplete 1984 F as spares for about AU$300 extra. Are parts hard to come by and is it worth the extra cash?

Question number two. Do the fairings from the F2 (if I can find them) fit the FF?

Dave

Should have said that I’m in Australia. God’s Own Country.

I have an FF and an F2 and you cant just bolt the Full fairing on to a FF model. The dash is totally different as is the twin headlight etc.So there is a lot to change. Both are great bikes to ride.

Hi Dave,

Parts here are not cheap, so I would grab the partial bike, particularly if it has an engine in it.

Cheers
Tony

Thanks Guys.

The second bike looks pretty much complete except for the dash assembly and does run. Thought it would be a good idea to have on hand but was just unsure of the price of parts etc.

Bummer regarding the fairings but you never know, if all goes well the second bike could become a project.

For older bikes I was really surprised how good these are to ride. I’m just over 6’, no spring chicken and have found a lot of the newer sports tourers cramped and uncomfortable. Love the look of these as well.

DEF GRAB THE OTHER BIKE YOU WILL COME TO USE IT IN THE YEARS TO COME.THESE BIKES ARE A LONG TERM INVESTMENT AS WELL AS FOR FUN AND HAVING YOUR OWN SUPPLY OF PARTS IS WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD. I WAS FUMING WHEN I WON ONE ON EBAY AND WHEN I WENT FOR IT IT HAD BEEN SOLD TO SOMEONE ELSE…
