Petrol leak from carb

Hello I removed the carbs on the vf1000r to replace the bowl gaskets and to check to float heights.. so I put it back on the bike and turned the fuel on then I noticed fuel dripping, so off comes the carbs again checked the carb that was leaking, and tested it off the bike, still leaking… I think it’s coming from a little tube that connects the carbs but not sure.. now, this tube turns, is it suppose to? Are there rubber o-rings in there… swapped gaskets around, made no difference.. at a lose :sob:any thoughts would be great
To tube is the silver colour one in the back ground

The carby fuel supply connection and vent tubes do indeed have O-rings on them, they dry out over time and crack when the bikes sit for long periods. Best to replace them all…not just the leaking ones.

Plenum base has to come off to do this so be very watchful of all the little springs. The black plastic connecting tubes can become brittle with age and break easily. You can replace them with aluminium ones easily bought off fleabay.

Thanks for the info Smithy.. nice bank holiday Monday job for tomorrow :clinking_beer_mugs:

I would replace them with viton o’rings which handle the fuel better.

Looked at the Viton o-rings.. defo looks like a better choice compared to standard o-rings.. just need to strips carbs and get sizes… nice bank holiday job :+1:t2:

I had the same problem and it take 3 tries to fix it. Please take the original Honda o-rings. My mechanic has changed it with standard o-rings. It doesn’t work due the Honda o-rings have a different size.

Removed all o-rings, they came out brittle and out off shape.. so ordered a set of Viton O-rings 70 sHa from polymax… Smithy, you was right regarding little springs falling out.. took load of photos
