Swingarm linkages and bolts required

Hi , my linkages and bolts are unsalvageable 1986 vf1000F2. I am in Brisbane Australia and would appreciate any one who is willing to sell s functional set.

I have all sorts of bolts here at home in the shed…I’ve replaced most of the original bolts on my VF with stainless to help ward off the dreaded corrosion. I’m 50km north of Brisvegas up in Bellmere near Caboolture. I don’t have any linkages for the FF/F2 any more but you’re welcome to pop up and have a fumble through my parts boxes…we can have a cuppa and talk VF’s. I don’t know of any other VF owners in Brisbane…I’m sure they’re out there but I just don’t know of any.

Some of the linkages and bolts are still available from CMSNL in Holland. I bought a lot of OEM parts for my RE from them.

Hi HondaXL1 - an old post I know - did you manage to extract the needle bearing races from the rear suspension knuckle?

Heat, penetrating oil and a press got it out, took 6 weeks soaking and multiple attempts.

Just an update, it is slow progress. Got to love the fuse. (house wire strands)

Good work…..if your beast is rideable, would love to catch up in the new year….Or I could ride my RE to yours one day..!!

Not quite there yet, I hope to start it in January. I would like to catch up I am in Rochedale south. Hoping to get to the annual meeting in Jindabine.

I am having trouble getting my head around the cooling hoses at the lower radiator to pump connection through the exhaust. if anyone has a helpful hint or a photo of the routing It would be appreciated. I have a vfr750 as well which has cuased slow progress.

Does this help..?? Just remember, the ‘84 FE is different to the ‘85/’86FF/F2F/F2G.

I might be telling you something that you know already, but, for an F2, the thermostat housing connects to hose 27 in the above picture, but it’s not yet been fitted to the bike, where it would be visible just before the triangular engine mount by the rear head.

Thanks, I have already done that side, it is hoses 29 and 32 routing and if they have a spring on their outer. I have a sabco set of hoses which the majority don’t match my model which I think is making it very tight and I am worried about the headers heat. Is there a trick to this.

Sorry, earlier photo before,latest version.

Samco makes kits for the RE & RF/RG…The RF & RG kits should be similar to the ‘85 FF’s.

Smithy.

Yes they probably are but I have a 1986 vf1000 f2 Bol Dor and I paid $450 for the sabco and used about 3 hoses, they are slightly thicker than standard. Still I would like a photo of my model’s installed lower hoses.

I believe it’s “Samco”, not Sabco….strange you’re not using most of the hoses though..!

The VF1000FE and VF1000RE kits are very similar.

The f2 boldor has a completely different cooling / radiator set up to any of the other vf models, its the only one with a lower small radiator, the piece that crosses the front of the engine close to the exhaust headers is steel tube :+1:t2:

Sorry you are right, must of had mops in my head.

It’s an easy mistake to make, although all the vf1000 models look very similar, they do have lots of differences and the f2 is more different than most in the cooling department, its a while since I owned a f2 boldor but number 29 on the previously posted parts diagram is steel, its the one that passes closest to the exhaust..

So as from the photo I have the routing correct with the steel section to the pump. I will try to connect tomorrow again. Thanks for the help.

Got everything connected today and you won’t believe it, the lower radiator is leaking. and it looks like another bogey job with some sort of putty. So it continues!
