What is the correct front and rear tyre pressure for my 1984 VF1000FE?
For the 1984 VF1000FE, the Honda owner’s manual figures are:
- Front: 250 kPa (2.50 kg/cm², 36 psi) — cold
- Rear: 290 kPa (2.90 kg/cm², 42 psi) — cold
These are the cold pressures, so check them when the tyres are cold (before a ride, not after). They apply to the standard fitment — 120/80V16 front and 140/80V17 rear — and the FE shares its running gear with the VF1000F Interceptor, so the same figures cover both.
One practical note: if you carry a pillion or luggage for a long run, Honda’s manual for this era doesn’t list separate high-load pressures for the FE — the single set above is the figure to use. And if your tyres aren’t the original sizes, treat these as the starting point and follow the tyre manufacturer’s recommendation for the actual fitted size.
