Top radiator damage

Hello… I have a issue with my top radiator… there is water spitting out of the radiator cap… then I notice some damaged to the cap seat… is this repairable or is it new rad… any thoughts much appreciated. Sean.

Finding a replacement radiator for a VF can be quite difficult. A good radiator repair place may be able to fit a new “neck” on the original radiator, possibly from another motorcycle radiator. They’re only soldered on so should be an easy fix for them. Obviously you’ll need to remove your rad for them to repair it.

Okay, the rest of the rad is in really good condition… I thought I was nearly there, but yet another problem :pensive:thanks again

Needs sorting…the VF’s are well known for running “warmish”, especially the R’s with full fairings and poor air flow…as BIF suggested in another thread, fitting a lower temp fan switch/sensor can help…most of us do that…and some of us also fit a manual switch to allow us to turn the fans on if we know we’re going to be stuck in slow moving traffic etc…
Here in Brisbane Aus, we can get silly ambient summer temps so having these “additions” on our old bikes makes sense. My old VF is like all others, runs hot when sitting in traffic, especially on a warm/hot day, having the fans on early makes all the difference…roasts my inner thighs but that’s better than torching and boiling an otherwise good engine.

Found an rad refurb shop not far from me… will take it off weekend and get it repaired… I found a rocker switch on the bike…might be fan switch my dad fitted years ago

Tough to repair but I have some rads if you’re in need. I’m in Niagara falls Canada side

Ok will let you know… going to the rad repair shop tomorrow :+1:t2:
