hi will vf1000 r shock fit the 1984 vf1000fe ??

I’m actually doing the switch the other way,I have an aftermarket FE shock which I am fitting to my RF,length and top fittings are the same.

Now here’s the thing,and I should have known this because I came across it many years ago,the R shock fits the FE but requires a 2mm spacer either side of the top bush but obviously the swap will not work the other way.
Note to self always wear glasses when measuring sizes smaller than a foot!!!
