Hello I’m trying to balance my carbs with this gadget I purchased.. as you can see the first 3 ports are near on ok but the 4th is out… anybody know which adjustment screw will alter this… I’m a bit lost. Thankyou
#4 cyl is the master…all the others are adjusted to match it. There’s a procedure in the manual for it. You’ll need a proper adjusting tool to do it on the bike…impossible to get at them easily with normal tools.
Here’s a pic out of the manual.

Hello thanks for that.. which is the 4th cylinder?
If you own an 80’s model V-four Honda….you should indeed know…Left rear is #1, right rear is #3, Front left is #2 and right front is #4.

So is that looking from the back of the bike to the front or from the front of the bike to the back
From back to front (as you sit on it)
As DonR mentions…as sitting on the bike….Left rear is #1….closest cyl to the alternator. #1 & 2 pistons/rods hang off the same crankpin….likewise with #3 & 4 on the right side of the bike. They’re a 360 degree crankshaft setup with both rear or front pistons going up and down together, but firing alternately, this is what give the old VF’s the “off-beat” sound they have.….as opposed to the later VFR750’s & 800’s which are 180 degrees….and these sound like a little V8.
Strangely the VFR-R750 RC30’s & RC45’s had a 360 crank too…better for racing purposes, this setup gives better low rpm torque chracteristics and helps pull out of lower speed corners better.
