I am on the look out for a VF500F2E fuel tank, preferably in blue, but any colour will do.

I believe (will confirm over the weekend for you) that the VF400F tank also fits. Bikes are very similar, despite the different frames.

The VF400F tank does look identical.

Confirmed the VF400 tank is a fit. Identical mountings, but has a different fuel tap knob. Caps are also interchangeable.
