Hi… being a new owner on this vf1000 I’m keen on getting it back on the road after 30 years of being in a garage… so I need to know what things do! So what is this and what’s it do?

That is the catch tank,the air being expelled from the breather on the rear rocker cover is piped into this,any mist that drops out suspension is trapped in here while the air is fed back to the engine via the airbox.
There is a drain tube on the lower left side of the tank which has a plug in it.This should be drained periodically
Might need a good clean after 30 years!
It was full of crap… nice and clean now
Nice! Might be worth checking other similar components too, bet there’s more surprises waiting.
Oh I drained the water out of the frame it’s was brown and thick… got the hose on it
