Dave Dodge oil mod

Can anyone tell me the best way to order the top end oil kit from Dave Dodge.I tried e-mail but got no reply, tried calling and got a no such number tone.Does anyone have more up to date contact details than i found on the net,all the info i could find was from the 90’s.
Thanks guy’s

Alan.

I’ve just been down this path myself, Dave’s email is

drp123@mindspring.com

He can take a couple of days to reply so don’t worry if it takes a little while.

Last time I emailed him, (4 weeks ago)he was putting together 50 spin on kits and also had drill and tap kits in stock.

Cheers
Tony

HI what is the mod and what is the kit ? I have just bought a VF1000 and want to preserve it’s reliability, it is an 86 bol dor model (ps anyone got a right hand side fairing lower ?) Thanks

The mod takes fresh filtered oil direct to the heads at 2-3 times the volume and increases oil pressure by 3-5 psi.It uses an adaptor plate that fits behind the oil filter and runs new lines to the heads.

Is there a thread and pics to read about the mod?

There are quite a few threads on the SabMag forum
http://users.metro2000.net/~cdc/magna/mcpage.htm for drill and tap style, the spin on is much easier to install.

Alan did you have any luck getting onto Dave? I ordered mine four weeks ago and still haven’t got it.
I’ve tried emailing twice but with no answer so I’m starting to get a bit annoyed!

no mate, not a word.

I finally heard back from him, he’s still waiting on a hose for the kit so it’s not even in the post yet.[xx(]

I see that Dale Walker has them advertised, it may be an easier option.

I have got one coming from Dale.He was a very decent guy and it was all sorted in a couple of days.£260.00 delivered by UPS.
I just hope it keeps the old VF going for a few more years, had a good long ride out on Saturday as the sun was shining and it really is a very nice bike to ride.Sunday i took my CBR1000f out and that is another Honda masterpiece, engine like a jet turbine but not the charm of the VF.

Glad to hear it worked out for you, I’m still waiting to hear if mine has been shipped yet, so it’s now 5 1/2 weeks since I paid and still not shipped[xx(]

Have now received my top end oiler and what a simple piece of kit it is.Nicely machined but very simple.
As i run my own Engineering company i am going to make some for my self to fit on my other VF’s,I am taking the oil lines down to pirtek to get some made up the same spec,I have ordered some K & N oil filters so that they clear the front pipes and i will turn up the adaptor plates and centre bolt myself.I have have just paid $329 plus shipping and then got stung £65 for import duty and VAT for bits i can make for under £100.
The service i got from America was very good and the guy was very helpful at Holeshot performance.
When i have made my own ones i will post some pic’s up for you all to see.If anyone would like one made up let me know.
Cheers
Alan.

I’m sure you would find a good market for these, even selling on Ebay etc.

I have been trying for months to get one from D Dodge, he was either making up a batch or sold out.

When I finally managed to order one from him he was making up 50 with most sold and had the rest in stock (I ordered a drill and tap style which he said he had in stock), but here it is 8 weeks later and I still don’t have one.

Finally got an email reply yesterday after sending a fairly grumpy email to him, “still waiting on hoses which will be here May 6th”
But I’ve heard that before…

All in all I really could not recommend him to anyone as the service is so bad, he is obviously reading emails that are sent to him but doesn’t bother to reply.

Pretty bloody frustrating really!

I also had the base plates and the fixing bolt made by local machine shop. I ordered two, he made three, so I have one extra if anybody is interested. I can get the hoses next week if necessary. It is the model to be fixed under oil filter, and two separate hoses to cylinder heads.

Hi Alan,

Thanks
Tony
