Hi Garyb,
What sealer are you going to use to join the cases?
I usually use threebond but due to the cases being painted black I’m going to use loctite premium black, there isn’t a huge area that needs sealing on these engines as the majority of the mating surfaces are adjacent to the side covers that have paper gaskets and only the front and rear would cause a leak.

Crankcase joined and torqued up second time round, gearbox turns nicely now. If you replace the gear shafts replace them all don’t mix and match! They looked identical but when cases tightened gearbox wouldn’t turn. Heads next.
Heads on and cam timing done and ready to put back in bike.
Followed the cam timing from the VF1000R manual so hopefully it’s ok! I know there are some manuals that are wrong.

Engine back in frame just the clutch and starter gears to fit and coolant to do so not long now.

Looking good gary
Everything finished except exhaust system and coolant so hopefully will get it finished tomorrow and then see if she starts!

Way to go mate, you have made short work of that
She’s not started yet! I was thinking of doing a video but not sure if that is tempting fate also petrol pump has failed with it standing for a couple of months so hoping I can fill carbs with gravity feed.
She lives! Much joyous shouting from me and relief. Tried to do a video but it wouldn’t upload so a pic of rev counter will have to do.
And some exhaust fumes!
Still need new fuel pump but it’s on its way and then I can test her properly.

Good to hear it’s up and running mate
Upload to youtube and post a link
Sweet very sweet
Have enjoyed the journey you have taken us on Gary. Well done
New fuel pump arrived today so could run bike upto temperature and balance the carbs and fitted air filter, sounds much nicer now! Tank and fairing are at the sprayers so have time now to try out the electronic ignition I bought last year so will post the results at the weekend.
Garyb
Enjoyed the read and comments as will be doing the same one day.
Thanks Eric, i hope that there is some info that will help you do yours and if you need anything that isn’t mentioned let me know.

Interesting topic well done
All the body work back and fitted, I’ve only been able to use her for going to work and back so only done 60 miles but all sounds good and runs really well. Want to do a few hundred miles before opening her up and seeing how she really runs but I’m optimistic. If all goes well will fit new ignition and see what difference if any it makes then its cop coils as new ignition will handle any resistance so have ordered some triumph Daytona coils will see how they work.
