Fred, that would be great to have you along as well. You will of course be more than welcome to stay at the “Marmite Shambles” prior to heading up to the land of ice and snow.
How is / was India ?

Hi Martin,
It’s just awful! I’m going back there at the end of the week and I keep crying…
Oh dear Fred. Just keep thinking of the money - and the nice VF’s you can buy with it. ;D
Being as how it costs nothing up front to book rooms for our stay in Edinburgh on the Friday and Sunday night, the booking has been made.We have 5 rooms as PAJ may well be able to join us along with Johnboys besty Martin who does not at present have a VF but will bring somthing else if one is not available.
Definates are Bif,GMcC,Paul810,Evansive,vfpete,Philjo,Johnboy and Marmite
possibles are PAJ,vf1000f24 and Martin
If we aim for Fort Augustus on Saturday night,we can include a loop down to Oban on the Sunday andd still not be too late back to Edinburgh
Regards Bif
nice one bif, the Scottish ball is well and truly rolling now,
Pete, is that the same as the ball of KerryMuir ?
thats a blast from the past martin :o :o, wont be able to get that tune out of my head now
Pete, I love those Marmite images you keep finding. You know what they say, “any publicity is good publicity”.
Secondly, brakes are for wimps… 8)
After a brief email from marmite and a quick chat with phil i was wondering what plans people had on getting to scotland, obviously the scotts will be heading down or across to edingurgh, but what about us yorkies and the peeps from further south,
My thoughts were, if we are wanting to travell up in convoy, meet up at squires, its 2mins from the A1, pretty much half way, and a good place to get something to eat, and for those who have already clocked up a couple of hundred mile, stretch the legs.
Then jump straight back onto the A1 upto scotch corner, A66 through cumbria and head towards glasgow and edinbourgh.
What time do we need to hit Edinbourgh ?.. 6.00 would give us chance to book into the rooms, freshen up then head to the pub for something to eat…
Anyway, just my thoughts, would appreciate it if anyone else has any thoughts.
pete
Pete, I’m OK with that. I would probably come up to Squires on the Thursday then trundle across to meet you’s all. Do squires do B&B ?
hi martin,
i dont think squires do B+B, they do have a campsite £3.00 per night for bike + tent, have sent you a pm.
Hi Pete yes I am up for that let us know what time you want to meet at squires and I will make sure I am there
Hi Paul. .
The sat nav says about 4.30 mins depending on traffic. . My vf will probably need a couple of fuel stops to do the 240 mile or so to Edinburgh so if we alowed about 5.30mins for stops/trafic/stretch the legs etc… We would need to set off from squires sometime around 12.30/1.00 ish… I will probably head up to squires for about 11.00…
I will probs meet you guys at Scotch Corner. Thanks for the nudge Pete, still in winter torpor.
Looking at routes and times for arriving in Edinburgh,I can thoroughly recommend the A7 from Carlisle as a possible,it’s a good surface with some fantastic bends particularly nearer to Edinburgh.
The Scottish contingent and those from Cumbria will be approaching Edinburgh by way of the A701 and planning to arrive around 5pm so we are on site for everyone arriving.
I will be looking at accommodation for Saturday soon,so we will need to be firm on numbers in the next week or so.
Best regards Bif
Biff, I have already booked my Thursday and Monday night accommodation near Squires so there’s at least 3 of us ( me, Pete and Phil ) leaving from there on Friday morning. Just need to give the VF 1000 a birthday.
As far as I can see there will be 5 traveling up. Myself ,Martin, phil and Paul will be traveling up from squires and Ivan will be meeting us near scotch corner… If there are any others interested now would be a good time to say…
Not gonna be able to make this trip guys, pinged for work on the Saturday due to some soft git being off sick. Fell over and hurt his wrist… >:( >:( >:( >:(
If i have incurred any cost let me know please Biff and i’ll sort it out.
That’s a real shame Ivan,I can cancel the Ibis no problem and we will just divide the bunk house between 8 instead of 9.
Best regards Bif
hi ivan,
thats a real downer, i know you were looking forward to a chug around scotland…anyway, chin up, theres always hulme end to look forward to, and maybe a mini-meet mid season… we will of corse raise a glass or two in your absence.
